The Police Service Commission (PSC) has given approval for the appointment and promotion of 1,897 senior police officers. According to a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, AIG Dasuki Galadanci is appointed as the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the North-West Geopolitical zone, succeeding DIG Ibrahim Sani Ka’oje who is set to retire on February 2nd.
Additionally, 14 Commissioners of Police have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, with one promotion temporarily deferred for a review of pending disciplinary matters. Notable appointments include Yetunde O. Longe, CP Eastern Ports, Port Harcourt, and Haruna Gabriel Garba, CP Federal Capital Territory.
The Commission elevated 21 Deputy Commissioners of Police to Commissioners, 20 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners, 109 Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commissioners, and 184 Superintendents to Chief Superintendents.
Additionally, 1,549 Assistant Superintendents were approved for promotion to Deputy Superintendents. Chairman Dr. Solomon Arase has granted anticipatory approval for the appointment of one Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the promotion of 1,897 senior police officers to the rank of Inspector General of Police.
