Gunmen claimed the lives of 10 individuals, destroyed 10 houses, and injured two in an attack on Kwahaslalek Community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau on January 24, as stated by DSP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer.
Additionally, the assailants ravaged property, including a vehicle, amounting to millions, as disclosed during a press briefing in Jos on Thursday.
”So far, over ten corpses have been recovered from various locations in Mangu, two injured persons currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
”One car and ten houses were burnt down,” he said.
The Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), a socio-cultural group, asserted that 30 individuals, mostly women and children, were casualties of the attack. Joseph Gwankat, the National President of MDA, conveyed this information.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang denounced the killings, urging security agencies to proactively protect lives and property. While appealing for calm, Mutfwang called on the public to cooperate with security forces and warned against any further lawlessness in the state, emphasizing his administration’s intolerance for such disruptions.
