Sam Dede, the seasoned actor, is gearing up to reprise his well-known character ‘Ebube’ in an upcoming sequel to the 2001 action-packed Nollywood thriller ‘Issakaba’. The teaser for the sequel was recently shared by the actor on his Instagram account.
“Issakaba!!! The Myth returns. A river does not flow through a forest without bringing down trees. Men with evil minds lurk in the dark. But….. Justice is mine,” he wrote.
Lancelot Imasuen, the original director, will be overseeing the new project. Earlier this month, he utilised social media to promote the second round of auditions for the film in Asaba, Delta.
The film ‘Issakaba’ cleverly takes its name from the anagram of Bakassi and is based on the true story of the Bakassi Boys, a grassroots vigilante group established in 1998 to combat rampant crime in Nigeria’s South-East region.
In this cinematic tale, Ebube leads the Issakaba boys on a mission to confront the armed robbery plaguing their village, employing mystical charms and innovative tactics for swift justice.
The 2001 five-part film featured a cast including Chiwetalu Agu, Pete Eneh, Amaechi Muonagor, Susan Obi, Mike Ogundu, and John Okafor. Additional cast members for the sequel include Andy Chukwu, Zulu Adigwe, Diewait Ikpechukwu, Remmy Ohajianya, Emeka Nwafor, Tom Njemanze, Uche Odoputa, and Emeka Ani. While production on the sequel is ongoing, the release date is yet to be announced.
