Senegal’s winger, Krepin Diatta, could potentially face disciplinary measures for accusing the Confederation of African Football (CAF) of corruption following their elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Diatta expressed his frustration, claiming corruption and urging CAF to keep the African Cup after Senegal’s loss to Ivory Coast in a penalty shootout.
The Monaco player was particularly upset about a denied penalty appeal for Senegal in the second half, questioning the referee’s decision not to award it, while Ivory Coast eventually equalized with a late penalty awarded through VAR.
“You go to the VAR to give them a penalty, while our guy (Sarr) picks up the ball 40 metres from goal, goes on a run into the box and you don’t want to go to the VAR?
“I’m sorry but that is going too far. I am really sorry but they have killed our competition,” Diatta added.
