The Super Eagles are currently awaiting the outcome of the scan for their primary goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, who suffered a knee injury during Nigeria’s Round of 16 match against Cameroon.
The Chippa United goalkeeper was substituted for Francis Uzoho after colliding with Cameroon’s Georges-Kevin N’Koudou in the 72nd minute. Despite initial treatment, Nwabali continued for about eight minutes before being replaced. Babafemi Raji, the team’s media officer, reassured that while Nwabali sustained a knee injury, the severity is yet to be determined as they await the scan results.
“Yes, he had a test/scan yesterday, and we are waiting for the result of the scan.
“I think he’s done well so far, so good with trying to recover from the injury, and the medics are really working hard on him.
“I don’t think it’s anything too serious that will rule him out of the tournament.
“But we just have to wait until we hear the result of the scan,” he said.
Regarding the team’s preparation for the quarter-final match against Angola, he mentioned that the players are mentally ready for the upcoming game.
