Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, disclosed that the EFCC is looking into the Nigeria Air deal, investigating the former minister, Hadi Sirika.
Keyamo said: “The EFCC is investigating that deal. There is a criminal investigation going on. I have called for the report.”
Keyamo emphasised that no local airline would be assigned the role of a national carrier, underscoring the intention to establish a dedicated national carrier.
In August, after assuming office as minister, Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), criticized Sirika’s deal and suspended the entire arrangement for a comprehensive audit of contracts.
The unveiling of Nigeria Air occurred shortly before the conclusion of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, sparking controversy and leading to the resignation of veteran aviator Girma Wake as Chairman of Ethiopian Airlines.
