On Wednesday, the House of Representatives’ Public Accounts Committee, led by Bamidele Salam, directed the Federal Fire Service to promptly refund N1.48bn to the Federation Account within a week. This action followed the service’s failure to attend an investigative hearing for the third time.
Deputy Chairman Jeremiah Umar moved a motion for the refund, emphasizing the importance of agencies cooperating with the committee’s inquiries into COVID-19 intervention fund expenditures.
The committee also issued fresh invitations to other defaulting ministries, departments, and agencies, urging their appearance or facing sanctions.
