The Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) is currently in a testing phase, as stated by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri. Lokpobiri emphasised the refinery’s significance to the country’s economic well-being and mentioned that the mechanical part of the refinery has been successfully concluded.
He anticipates the introduction of refined petroleum products into the market soon.
“I believe that very soon products will start coming from there…and the Warri refinery is in top gear.”
“If you ask me, in the next few months, we would have tremendously increased our refining capacity.
“So I believe that very soon the Port Harcourt refinery and the other refineries will all come on stream,” he said.
In December 2023, it was reported that the PHRC had recommenced operations, marking its return to activity after undergoing rehabilitation by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) over the course of several months.
