Yesterday, Comrade Reuben Izeze, the Delta State Commissioner for Works, Highways, and Urban Roads, emphasised that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda goes beyond being a mere slogan that it is a comprehensive plan aimed at delivering tangible and people-oriented projects to the people of Delta State.
Izeze made this statement while inspecting project sites managed by CCECC NIG LIMITED, the contractor responsible for constructing drainage channels in Owa-Alero, Owa-Alizomor, and Owa-Odie to connect with Iyi-Amah Stream in Ika North East Local Government Area.
The project includes a 6,020m channel, with an open channel size of 1,220Lm, sewer channel sizes of 1,550Lm and 3,250Lm, a double-cell box culvert of 52Lm, a pavement length of 875m, and an average pavement width of 7m.
Izeze expressed satisfaction with the work progress, praised the contractor, and urged them to maintain the current work pace, emphasising Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to completing all ongoing projects inherited from the previous administration.
“For this reason Governor Oborevwori who is a prudent manager of resources is ensuring that contractors are well funded to deliver on their contractual obligations.
“This administration can not afford to see projects abandoned in the state. The Governor is ready to inaugurate as many projects that are completed before his one year in office, in fulfillment of his meaningful development promise to Deltans.
“The MORE Agenda is not a slogan, it is a work plan to deliver More tangible and people oriented projects to Deltans.
“I am impressed with the job done so far, the project site is well planned out, and all engineering principles are being observed, the concretes slabs are solid, and would stand the test of time.
“This drainage channels will also help mitigate erosion that have been of grave concern to the people living within this community and their neighbors from disintegration if such steps have not been taken.”
The Commissioner for Works was guided through the project site by the contractor, who conveyed their preparedness to complete the project in three months. The contractor affirmed that the precast work is fully finished, and anticipates assembling all components at their respective locations, constituting less than 28% of the entire project, by May.
