Passengers of two buses heading towards Abuja from the eastern part of Nigeria were kidnapped by unidentified individuals in the Inele-Eteke Ogugu, New Road area of Kogi East district. According to a source on Monday, the buses involved were from GIG and ABC Transport.

The GIG bus, which departed from Umuahia in Abia State at 7:30 am on Saturday, was en route to Abuja when the abduction occurred. GIG has reportedly reached out to security authorities for assistance in locating the kidnappers.

The Kogi State Police Command has acknowledged the incident, with spokesman William Ayah stating that the Divisional Police Officer, local vigilantes, and hunters are conducting search operations in the bush to rescue the victims. Ayah mentioned that the abducted GIG bus had 12 passengers, while an ABC Transport Sienna bus had two occupants. However, security forces managed to rescue the GIG Motors driver.

Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha, has deployed additional Tactical Squads to the area to continue combing the bush and ensure the safe rescue of all victims.
