AFCON 2023: Cote d’Ivoire Striker Haller Eyes Revenge Against Nigeria

Sebastian Haller, the striker for Cote d’Ivoire, has disclosed the Elephants’ determination to retaliate against the Super Eagles of Nigeria following their loss in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stage match.

The two teams will compete for the AFCON trophy at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, this Sunday. Despite falling 1-0 to the Super Eagles in the group stage, Haller expressed the Elephants’ desire for both revenge and the championship title this time.

“We are playing the final against Nigeria. It is a great nation. It is heavy. They beat us in the group stage,” Haller said to BeIn SPORTS.

“But we are already motivated to go and lift the trophy on Sunday in this stadium in front of the Ivorian people. We have revenge to take on Nigeria.”

The Cote d’Ivoire versus Nigeria match is scheduled to commence at 9pm Nigerian time.
