France, the runners-up of the World Cup, alongside European champions Italy and Belgium, will compete in the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League. Meanwhile, Spain, the current title holders, are expected to lead Group A, which also includes Denmark, Switzerland, and Serbia.
Israel, newly promoted to the top tier, joins Group A2 along with France led by Didier Deschamps.
Group A3 features Croatia, Portugal, Poland, and Scotland, with Croatia aiming to bounce back from their loss in the previous final.
Euro 2024 hosts Germany are grouped with the Netherlands, Hungary, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group A3.
England faces the Republic of Ireland, Finland, and Greece after being relegated to League B, narrowly avoiding a matchup with Kazakhstan due to UEFA travel regulations.
Wales finds themselves in Group B4 alongside Iceland, Montenegro, and Turkey.
The Nations League comprises four-team groups in each league, except for League D, which has six teams divided into two groups. Russia remains banned due to the conflict in Ukraine.
Matches are set to kick off from September 5-7, with the group stage wrapping up in mid-November. The fixture details will be confirmed later.
This edition introduces a knockout round, with the top two teams from League A groups advancing to two-legged quarter-finals, leading to the finals.
Promotion and relegation remain, with group winners in Leagues B, C, and D earning promotion, while the bottom teams in Leagues A and B face relegation. Additionally, the lowest-ranked teams in League C drop to League D.
Play-offs between third-placed teams in League A and second-placed teams in League B, along with similar ties between Leagues B and C, determine further promotions and relegations.
Furthermore, the runners-up in League D have a chance to move up a tier by facing the top-ranked fourth-place teams in League C in a playoff.
