The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has announced that sunshine and hazy conditions are expected nationwide from Saturday to Monday.
According to NiMet’s weather forecast released on Friday in Abuja, the northern region will experience a sunny and hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period starting from Saturday.
NiMet predicts moderate dust haze, with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km, over the North Central region and inland areas of the South during the forecast period.
The coastal areas are expected to have early morning mist and fog patches, with partly cloudy skies prevailing in a hazy atmosphere throughout the forecast period.
NiMet anticipates isolated thunderstorms over parts of Rivers and Bayelsa States during the afternoon and evening hours.
“For Sunday, sunny skies and a hazy atmosphere are anticipated over the northern region all through the
forecast period.
“The North Central should experience a slight dust haze throughout the forecast period.
“Hazy atmosphere with few patches of cloud should prevail over the Inland states with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Imo, Abia and Edo state during the afternoon and evening hours.
“Early morning mist and fog patches are anticipated over the coastal belt, while a hazy atmosphere with few patches of clouds should prevail over the area during the rest of the forecast period,” it said.
The agency mentioned that there are low chances of isolated thunderstorms occurring in portions of Rivers, Lagos, and Bayelsa states.
Furthermore, it projected a sunny and hazy weather condition persisting over the northern region on Monday throughout the forecast duration.
The forecast also indicates a hazy atmosphere with occasional patches of clouds prevailing over the North Central region during the forecast period.
Additionally, it anticipated patches of clouds within the hazy atmosphere over the inland areas of the South and along the coast throughout the forecast period.
