NiMet Predict 3-Day Sunshine, Haziness From Monday

NiMet has forecasted sunny and hazy conditions across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday. According to their weather outlook released in Abuja on Sunday, the northern region can expect a sunny and hazy atmosphere on Monday, while the North Central cities may experience sunny skies with patches of clouds and isolated thunderstorms over parts of Kogi and Benue later in the day.

” Cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over inland areas of the South, and coastal parts with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa during the morning period.

“Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Ogun, Ondo, Abia, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Lagos states,” it said.

According to NiMet, the northern region can expect sunny and hazy skies on Tuesday. Patches of clouds are predicted to persist in the hazy atmosphere over the North Central cities throughout the forecast period. NiMet also anticipates a cloudy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine over inland states and coastal areas of the South.

There’s a likelihood of morning thunderstorms over parts of Edo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Lagos states. Additionally, the agency envisions thunderstorms over parts of Abia, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Cross River, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Lagos states during the afternoon and evening periods.

“For Wednesday, sunny and hazy atmosphere is expected over the northern region during the forecast period.

“Patches of clouds in hazy atmosphere is expected over the North central cities during the forecast period.

“Cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over the inland states and coastal
areas of the South during the morning period.

“Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Edo, Ogun, Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States during the afternoon and evening periods,” it said.

The agency advised the public to take appropriate precautions as strong winds could precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms were expected. It noted that temperature values remain high, especially in the North, emphasizing the importance of staying hydrated.

Additionally, it recommended that individuals with respiratory issues should be cautious of the prevailing weather conditions, and suggested that children and the elderly should wear warm clothing at night.
