A tumultuous session unfolded in the Senate on Wednesday after a proposal to include Anambra State in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was rejected.
The rejection sparked a dispute between Senators Tony Nwoye (LP Anambra North) and Jibrin Isah (APC Kogi East). Senator Nwoye, advocating for Anambra’s inclusion due to its oil-producing status and receipt of the 13 percent derivation fund since 2021, clashed with other senators who pointed out that states like Kogi and Lagos are also oil-producing but are not covered by NDDC operations.
