Tinubu Slams Labour Unions, Says ‘You’re Not The Only Voice Of Nigerians’

President Bola Tinubu criticized labour unions in the country, urging them to uphold peace. He made these remarks in Lagos during the inauguration of the state’s Red Line Rail service, just two days after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) staged a nationwide protest against economic hardship.

Speaking at the event, President Tinubu sought permission to address the issue before directing a message to the Organised Labour, comprising mainly the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

He said, “The Labour Union should understand that no matter how long we cling to our freedom and rights, the first strike within nine months of an administration is unacceptable.

“If you want to participate in the electoral process, wait until 2027. If not maintain peace. You are not the only voice of Nigerians.”
