A tragic incident occurred in the Gbagada area of Lagos, where an unidentified woman was fatally stabbed by her househelp at her residence on 29 Kiniun-Ifa Street, Sawmill. The perpetrator, known only as Peter, fled the scene, leaving the timing of the murder uncertain.
The woman’s lifeless body was discovered on Saturday, March 9, by her visiting son, as reported by Vanguard. Upon Vanguard’s arrival at the scene, the building was found locked. The deceased, who was the sole occupant of the building, lived in a residential area with three shops nearby.
A resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “The woman’s son, upon arriving at the compound, went straight to his mother’s apartment, only to find her lifeless body on the staircase, with blood all over.
“A long piece of wood suspected to be the murder weapon was also found. By then, the body had started swelling, suggesting that the woman might have been killed days before.”
Vanguard’s investigation revealed that the househelp who fled the scene had resumed work just a week before the tragic event. According to information available to Vanguard, a relative of the agent who introduced the househelp had been apprehended, while the agent remained elusive.
Attempts to interview the grieving son were unsuccessful as he was too distraught to communicate.
Police officers from the Ifako Police Division reportedly visited the scene and removed the body.
