Delta Govt Allocates N3bn To Upgrade 20 General Hospitals

In a bid to enhance healthcare delivery and citizen well-being, the Delta State Executive Council (Exco) has approved a substantial investment of N3 billion. This investment will be used to upgrade medical facilities in 20 General Hospitals across the state, with a focus on procuring essential medical equipment.

Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, the Commissioner for Health, confirmed the approval, emphasizing the government’s proactive approach to addressing healthcare challenges. This significant allocation marks a crucial step towards improving healthcare accessibility and quality in Delta State.

The selected hospitals to benefit from this upgrade include Obiaruku, Abraka, Ekpan, Owa-Alero, Okwe, Koko, Orerokpe, Otu-Jeremi, Burutu, Abavo, Owa-Oyibu, Issele-Uku, Ibusa, Aviara, Onicha-Olona, Ofagbe, Aboh, Ashaka, Kiagbodo General Hospitals, and Eku Baptist Government Hospital.

Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, the State Commissioner for Information, highlighted the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring the effective utilization of resources. He stressed that this investment goes beyond financial aspects, reflecting a strategic effort to address existing healthcare challenges in the state.

Moreover, the government has also approved an upward variation of the contract for the remodeling of the uncompleted library building of the Basic Clinical building for the College of Health Sciences in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area. This move further demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and promoting the overall well-being of its citizens in Delta State.
