The Federal Government has declared Thursday as an extra public holiday to observe this year’s Eid-El-Fitr, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
“The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, while congratulating the muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation, reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive”, the statement added.
The government initially set Tuesday and Wednesday for Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, but due to the moon not being sighted on Monday, the holidays were extended. Saudi Arabia and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, declared Wednesday, April 10, as Eid el-Fitr for the same reason.
