Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, extends his warm wishes to the Muslim community as they celebrate Eid el-Fitr.
In a statement conveyed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, he shares in the joy of the Muslim faithfuls marking the successful conclusion of Ramadan, a sacred period of fasting, and extends heartfelt wishes for a joyous celebration.
Reflecting on the significance of Eid al-Fitr, also known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” Rt Hon Guwor underscores its profound importance in Islam and urges for special prayers for national unity and progress. He particularly urges Muslim brethren and sisters in Delta State to pray for sustained peace and development, acknowledging their significant contributions to political stability and good governance in the state.
Representing the Warri South West Constituency in the State Assembly, Guwor emphasizes the importance of religious tolerance across the nation.
He said “As our Muslim brothers and sisters mark the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, I wish to on behalf of my constituents and the entire Delta State House of Assembly, felicitate with them on the spiritual achievements.”
“I am aware that the yearly religious festival involves special prayers, charity, feasting, and spending time with family and friends as the joyous occasion is celebrated to promote unity, compassion, and reflection on the values of Islam.
“I join the faithfuls to express gratitude to Allah and pray with them not to fall short of the essential requirements of Ramadan, including deep spiritual rejuvenation, moral reflection and communal unity amongst others.”
“I wish the faithfuls greater joy as they strive to draw closer to Allah and encourage all to pray always for the progress and unity of the country” Rt Hon Guwor stated.
The Speaker assured all of the commitment of the State Assembly to joining forces with the Executive arm of the Delta State Government towards achieving accelerated development in the state.
