Akemotubo praised Tinubu’s decision-making but urged him not to ignore the principles of meritocracy and inclusion in governance.
While Chief Dennis Otuaro’s appointment has faced opposition, particularly from the Delta State APC Transparency and Advocacy Group (DSATAG), Akemotubo highlighted Otuaro’s experience and commitment to peace and development in the Niger Delta region.
Part of the statement read, “”For the utmost respect for your considered decision-making in leading our great nation. I write to you concerning the recent appointment of Chief Dennis Otuaro as Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, an appointment that has been met with some resistance according to the press release from the Delta State APC Transparency and Advocacy Group (DSATAG) dated 8th April, 2024.
“It is pertinent at this juncture to counsel against succumbing to sentiments that disregard the fabric of inclusion and meritocracy within our governance. Your leadership has shown an unwavering commitment tok creating a government where merit, capability, and inclusion are the bedrock upon which decisions are made. This approach has not only strengthened the integrity of our public institutions but has also sent a bold message that excellence and a dedication to service are the true attributes that qualify one to serve.
In his message, Akemotubo underscored the importance of prioritizing national interests over partisan considerations, especially for roles like the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, which directly impact regional welfare and stability.
He urged Tinubu to remain steadfast in upholding integrity and inclusivity in decision-making, emphasizing that such principles are vital for sustaining democratic values.
