Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara issued a stern warning to local government chairmen in the state, cautioning that those who disrespect his authority are setting themselves up for failure.
Fubara delivered this message during the inauguration of the Comprehensive Primary Health Centre in Ndoni, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area, donated by former Governor Peter Odili and endorsed by him as the state’s political leader.
Fubara rebuked critics who label his administration as ineffective because it prioritizes public welfare over personal interests. He emphasized his commitment to serving the broader interests of the people of Rivers State, striving to enhance their quality of life.
Directing his remarks at local government chairmen who prioritize individual interests over public service, Fubara warned them of the consequences of their actions, suggesting that they are jeopardizing their political futures. He underscored his administration’s dedication to fostering an inclusive society where constructive criticism is valued, aiming to advance good governance.
He said: “But I thank God that whatever it is they think or imagine we are doing, we are happy we are touching lives. Everyone can attest to it. But one critical project, one specific aspect of it is the well-being of our people.
“We made a promise to Mr. President to support him, and we will continue to support him. How do we support him?
“It is to ensure that the welfare of our people is provided for. It is to ensure that our people, those in critical need, are happy in this harsh economic situation.
“If we cannot solve all the problems, at least, we will go as much as we can to mitigate those basic challenges. That is the only way to support Mr. President.”
