Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, stated during a Channels Television interview on Thursday that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration cannot resolve the five decades of power sector challenges within a year.
Adelabu emphasized that the government is steadily progressing in addressing these challenges through consistent and gradual efforts.
“The problem we are having is an accumulated problem of over 50 years; it will not disappear in one year, but we’ve been making consistent and gradual progress”, he said.
His statement arises amidst the recent increase in electricity tariffs for customers categorized under Band A. This tariff adjustment has sparked discontent and frustration among Nigerians, particularly the Organized Labour Unions, who are demanding a reversal of the decision.
