Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has expressed sorrow and offered condolences to the families affected by the Nollywood boat tragedy, describing their loss as painful and regrettable.
He conveyed that the State Government shares in the grief caused by the tragic and premature demise of Junior Pope and others in the boat accident.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori encouraged Nollywood enthusiasts and stakeholders to come to terms with the actors’ passing as a sad event.
He prayed for strength and comfort from God for the families, friends, and associates of the deceased during this difficult time.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I commiserate with the Nollywood industry and families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate boat mishap.
“Perhaps, the deaths could have been avoided if the necessary safety measures were adhered to.
“May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in eternal peace,” Governor Oborevwori stated.
