Elon Musk, the creator of the micro-blogging platform X, has strongly cautioned users against engaging in farming activities. Reports indicate that several users on X are participating in such practices to boost their earnings through the platform’s content creator monetization program.
This development comes amidst Musk’s continued campaign to tackle the rise of bots and fake accounts on X, previously known as Twitter.
Musk took to X to announce his stance, stating,“Any accounts doing engagement farming will be suspended and traced to source.”
Engagement farming is the strategy of actively pursuing higher interaction levels on social media platforms. Users utilize this technique to accumulate more followers, likes, comments, and retweets, often without contributing substantial content.

The primary objective is to enhance one’s online visibility. Influencers frequently adopt this approach, forming alliances with other content creators. Within these alliances, members reciprocate engagement by engaging with each other’s posts, including liking, commenting, and sharing. The ultimate aim is to simulate a deeply engaged audience and manipulate algorithms to achieve greater visibility.
