Comrade Mulade Sheriff, an advocate for peace and development from Delta State, has expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Army for releasing the revered monarch, the Ovie of Ewu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
It’s noteworthy that the people of Ewu Kingdom, known for their commitment to peace, faced confusion and distress due to the detention of their monarch.
He voluntarily surrendered himself following being declared wanted by the Nigerian military command in connection to the killing of 17 military officers in his kingdom.
The activist, also known as the Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area, emphasized the professionalism displayed by the military and their respect for traditional institutions.
He stressed the role of traditional leaders in promoting cultural heritage and sustainable security within their communities, complementing government security efforts.
Additionally, the renowned peace and environmental rights activist urged the people of Okuama and Ewu Kingdom to foster peace with their neighbors and collaborate with the military high command to identify the perpetrators responsible for the tragic killing of the 17 military officers. This cooperation, he believes, will help clear any suspicion cast upon the communities and bring those responsible to justice.
“I want to commend and appreciate Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Political office-holders across the divide and traditional rulers who intervened in managing the situation and the eventual release of the Ovie of Ewu kingdom”, he said.
Speaking further, “I equally call on all Nigerians to support and appreciate our security agencies to enable them deliver on their national assignment of providing and safeguarding our dear nation, as it is worthy of note that security is a collective responsibility of all citizens, for a better Nation”
