The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has refuted the false job advertisement circulating, warning against fraudulent attempts by unscrupulous individuals to deceive job seekers.

The exam body also admonished those involved in deceptive practices to cease immediately and adopt a more honest approach.

Movosola Adesina, the Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, clarified in a statement issued on Friday that the appointment of supervisors is exclusively handled by the Ministries of Education, while schools nominate invigilators for the examination.

Emphasizing its global reputation for integrity, WAEC reiterated its commitment to ethical standards and emphasized that it never demands monetary compensation from job applicants.

Additionally, WAEC cautioned that any dealings with unofficial websites, apart from the official WAEC site, are done at one’s own risk.

It stated: “The attention of the West African Examinations Council has been drawn to an online portal advertising job offers purportedly from the Council.

“The said website advertised job offers that are supposedly meant for ad-hoc staff who would serve as supervisors and invigilators in the forthcoming West African Senior School Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2024.

“The Council would like to state categorically that the advert did not emanate from us and thereby disassociates itself from the fake job advert being circulated by unscrupulous individuals whose schemes are to defraud unsuspecting job-seekers.”

“WAEC is not currently engaging in recruitment activities. Whenever job opportunities arise, they are exclusively advertised through the daily newspapers, WAEC Nigeria’s official website (www.waecnigeria.org), and all of our social media platforms.”
