Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has clinched the nomination of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming November 16 gubernatorial election by being declared the party’s candidate.

Aiyedatiwa emerged victorious in the primaries with a significant lead, amassing 48,569 votes, while his closest rival, Mayowa Akinfolarin, garnered 15,343 votes, followed by Chief Olusola Oke with 14,865 votes.

The announcement of Aiyedatiwa’s nomination was made by the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee and Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, who emphasized the competitive nature of the primaries.

Held across the 18 council areas of Ondo State, the primaries witnessed enthusiastic participation from party members and supporters.

Now that the nomination is secured, Aiyedatiwa and the APC are focusing on consolidating support and rallying behind their candidate for the November election. However, there were reports of violence in Ifedore, as confirmed by the returning officer, Oliver Okpala, resulting in no voting in all the wards in that area.
