While acknowledging the association of dreadlocks with internet fraudsters, he emphasized that it is a violation of individuals’ rights for soldiers to target innocent citizens based on their hairstyle.
Responding to concerns about the constitutionality of military personnel’s actions at checkpoints, he asserted that there is no law mandating a specific dress code for citizens, and it is incorrect for soldiers to enforce nonexistent laws.
He warned of severe penalties for any military personnel found harassing commuters at checkpoints under the pretext of their dreadlocks.
” Any soldier found arresting people with dreadlock will be dealt with. Once you see any soldier engaging in such unprofessional conduct, please get us his name and the checkpoint, and see what we will do.”
