In response to a purported call by a coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society groups for the replacement of Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, the current amnesty administrator, the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative (IPDI) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to disregard such divisive calls.
IPDI, in a statement by its National President, Comrade Ozobo Austin, dismissed the alleged coalition as non-existent and criticized the move as orchestrated by detractors aiming to undermine the new amnesty coordinator’s initiatives.
The IPDI emphasized that the appointment of Dr. Otuaro was based on merit and suitability for the role, rather than serving any particular interest. They endorsed Dr. Otuaro’s commitment to enhancing the amnesty program for the benefit of its participants and urged all genuine stakeholders to support his efforts.

According to IPDI, the individuals leading the purported coalition are sponsored by enemies of the Niger Delta, seeking to disrupt progress and sow discord in the region. Ozobo called on the sponsors of these attacks to redirect their resources towards constructive endeavors and encouraged them to join forces with Dr. Otuaro to advance the objectives of the amnesty program.
IPDI appealed to President Tinubu and the National Security Adviser to disregard the activities of the anonymous coalition seeking unwarranted attention, and urged Dr. Otuaro not to be deterred by malicious attempts to undermine his work. They encouraged him to continue with determination in implementing positive policies and programs for the benefit of the amnesty program and the Niger Delta region as a whole.
