The Nigerian passport ranks among the lowest globally, presenting significant challenges for Nigerian travelers seeking international mobility.

According to the latest assessment by VisaGuide’s World Passport Index, Nigeria holds the 191st position out of 199 countries, placing it above nations like North Korea, Iraq, and Somalia.

This ranking underscores concerns regarding Nigeria’s efforts to enhance mobility, despite initiatives such as e-visa programs. In contrast, the Singaporean passport tops the chart as the strongest globally, followed by passports from Italy, Spain, France, and Germany.

The report attributes Nigeria’s decline to factors such as limited visa-free access, diplomatic relations, and security issues.

The Henley Passport Index, which assesses visa-free entry to countries, has consistently listed the Nigerian passport among the bottom 10 globally.

This persistent low ranking emphasizes the urgent need for Nigeria to address the underlying issues impacting its passport’s international standing.
