Chelsea, one of the English Premier League’s top clubs, has initiated discussions with Napoli as they aim to secure the services of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Reports from Di Marzio suggest that Chelsea is prepared to make a substantial financial offer to secure Osimhen for the next season, with the proposed deal estimated to be in the range of €80-90 million.
Additionally, Chelsea is considering including Romelu Lukaku, currently on loan at Roma, and a promising young player as part of the deal.
However, Chelsea faces tough competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who are reportedly ready to activate Osimhen’s release clause of €120 million and offer him a lucrative four-year contract worth €13 million annually.
Despite Chelsea’s keen interest in Osimhen, the club’s financial limitations and the need to comply with the Premier League’s Profit & Sustainability Regulations (PSR) could present significant obstacles. These regulatory constraints might compel Chelsea to reassess their involvement in the race for the highly coveted striker.
