Bayer Leverkusen made Bundesliga history by completing an entire season without a single defeat, following a 2-1 victory over Augsburg at home on Saturday.

This win extended their unbeaten streak to 51 consecutive games.

Having secured their first-ever Bundesliga title in April, Leverkusen, under the management of Xabi Alonso, are now poised for a potential unbeaten treble as they gear up for the Europa League final against Atalanta and the German Cup final this week.

The opening goal came in the 12th minute when Amine Adli capitalized on an error by Augsburg goalkeeper Tomas Koubek, setting up Victor Boniface for a close-range finish. Leverkusen’s midfield maestro, Robert Andrich, doubled the lead with a clever backheel finish from a rebound in the 27th minute.

Despite a stunning strike from Augsburg’s teenage talent Mert Komor in the 62nd minute, Leverkusen held firm to secure the victory, setting the stage for what could be an unforgettable week in their illustrious history.
