Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury by split decision on Sunday, becoming the undisputed heavyweight world champion. The Mirror reported that Usyk’s impressive comeback in the latter half of the fight secured his victory.

Fury dominated the early rounds, often mocking Usyk and entertaining the crowd with antics. However, Usyk turned the tide in the ninth round, landing a blow that left Fury hanging on the ropes, prompting the referee to issue a count.

Fury, who outweighed Usyk by 40 pounds and had a six-inch height advantage, began the fight confidently, taunting Usyk and using his size to his advantage. He switched to a southpaw stance in the fourth round and appeared to be in control by the sixth, with Usyk struggling to find his rhythm.

Despite Fury’s strong start, Usyk rallied in the seventh and eighth rounds, landing powerful left hands and increasing his aggression. In the ninth round, a left hand from Usyk left Fury reeling and holding onto the ropes. Fury managed to continue, but Usyk maintained the momentum.

In the final rounds, Usyk’s persistence paid off, as he landed significant blows while Fury struggled to regain control. When the final bell rang, the decision was left to the judges, who declared Usyk the winner by split decision, making him the division’s first undisputed champion in 25 years.
