Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, stated on Tuesday that the governors of the South-South states are united in their commitment to the overall and integrated development of the region.
He praised the people of Rivers State for their genuine support of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, assuring them that peace would return to the state.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 21.49km Egbeda internal roads and drainages in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Governor Oborevwori expressed confidence that Governor Fubara would fulfill his promises to the people.
He highlighted the project as a testament to Governor Fubara’s dedication to sustainable infrastructural development in the state.
Oborevwori noted that the road construction would significantly contribute to the socio-economic empowerment and development of both the Egbeda communities and the entire Emohua Local Government Area.
He also thanked the people of Egbeda and Emohua for their support of Governor Fubara and urged them to refrain from dumping refuse in the drains to prevent flooding.
Oborevwori said: “I am happy to be here today to inaugurate the Egbeda community internal roads executed by my brother Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
“Let me thank you for the support for my brother. What I have seen here today is organic love for Governor Fubara. It’s not a borrowed crowd because as we were coming we saw the crowd.
“I saw the traditional rulers well seated, and this is real organic love and I thank you all for the support you have given to my brother and I promise you he will not fail you.
“The significance of my presence here is our deep friendship and brotherhood.
“Coming here today all the way from Delta State shows we are all one in this region. It shows a great relationship between us and it points to the fact that as a state we are supportive of our brother states in the South-South region.

“Our unity as a region is as strong as ever. We are united in this region and we will continue to do well for our people because we are one of the most richest regions in the country.
“We are the ones producing the wealth of this nation and there is no reason we will not give our people development because that is what they want and this is dividends of democracy.”
In his remarks, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, thanked Governor Oborevwori for agreeing to inaugurate the projects and praised the contractor for completing the work ahead of schedule.
Fubara also expressed gratitude to the Egbeda community for their support and cooperation before, during, and after the 2023 general elections.
“For all your support we owe you dividends of democracy and I can assure you that we are just starting because if in four months we can finish this and getting this kind of applause you can imagine what will happen in the years to come.
“I can assure you that Rivers State will experience something different from the regular governance.
“Our concern remains the welfare of the people and what we have done here is to build the road to the satisfaction of the people and meeting your needs and solving the flood problem in this community”, he said.
He committed to extending the road and upgrading the Egbeda community school in the area.
In his welcome remarks, Engr. Atemea Briggs, Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Works, stated that the project has transformed Egbeda into a semi-urban town.
