The Delta State Police Command has raided a criminal hideout in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region.
The command reported that a vigilant community member in Agbarho provided an intelligence tip (name withheld) regarding the locations of suspected kidnappers who have been terrorizing Ughelli, Agbarho, Warri, Sapele, and surrounding areas. These suspects were reportedly hiding in the bush near the rail tracks at Uwurghelli village.
Acting on this information, Josephine Ekebuike, the Divisional Police Officer of Agbarho Police Division, swiftly organized and led a team of police operatives to the site. They cordoned off the area and conducted a search, discovering sack bags concealed in the bush.
The search of these bags revealed three AK-49 rifles, two AK-47 rifles, and 207 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
In response, the command has initiated a manhunt for the fleeing suspected kidnappers.
Additionally, Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda praised the DPO and the Agbarho Division officers for their quick and effective action based on the intelligence received.
