As campaigns for the July 13 Local Government Council elections in Delta State gain momentum, the Labour Party (LP) in Isoko North Local Government Area has merged its entire structure into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This merger was led by Prince Oghenerioja Usie, a former House of Assembly candidate for the Isoko North State Constituency, during a campaign rally at Ekwerigbe Primary School, Ozoro, where the PDP presented its party flag to its Chairmanship candidate, Prince Godwin Ogorugba.

Prince Usie explained that they joined the PDP because it is the dominant party in the area and state, and they would mobilize all their members across the wards to support Prince Ogorugba and all twenty councillorship candidates in the council area.

During the presentation of party flags to Prince Godwin Ogorugba and his Vice Chairmanship candidate, Dr. Mrs. Evelyn Aluta, the State Chairman, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, who led the State Executive members to the rally, urged party leaders and faithful to secure a victory for the party in the local government area.

He said: “Prince Ogorugba has the capacity, ability and the needed experience to deliver on the dividends of democracy as Council Chairman in Isoko North.”

In his remarks, Member Representing Isoko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, said “PDP is isoko and Isoko is PDP, adding that the people are eager to do what they know how to do by delivering all candidates of the party, the chairmanship and the councilors at the election.

“The PDP has not lost any election in Isoko North local government area and the party will continue its wining streak come July 13.” he said.

Other leaders who spoke at the rally included Hon. Bernard Odior, member representing Isoko North Constituency; Chief Kome Okpobor, Executive Director of Finance at DESOPADEC; Dr. Paul Oweh, Chairman of the Campaign Council and Delta State Hospitals Management Board; and Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, former Chairman of Isoko North Council and Director-General of the Campaign Council. They all assured that the PDP was ready to win the local government area election on July 13, 2024.

In his acceptance speech, Prince Ogorugba thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the party leaders for selecting him as the party candidate for the July 13 elections. He assured that, if elected, he would deliver the dividends of democracy to the people through his “GOD WINS” Agenda, aligned with Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda for the state.

Earlier, Engr. Thomas Akpoedafe, Secretary of the party in the area, welcomed the State Chairman and party leaders to the rally, noting that the large crowd indicated that the LGA would once again win convincingly at the polls.

Also present were Barr. Val Arenyeka, Deputy State Chairman; Engr. Dan Ossai, State Secretary; Prince Johnson Erijo, Chief of Staff to the State Governor; Barr. Bernard Odior, member representing Isoko North State Constituency; and Chief Askia Ogieh, immediate past MD of DESOPADEC, among others.
