NFF Denies Contacting Renard For Super Eagles Coaching Position

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied reports that it has reached out to Herve Renard regarding the vacant Super Eagles coaching position.

On Monday, it was reported that the NFF had initiated discussions with the French coach to lead the Super Eagles.

However, a senior official from the federation has refuted this claim.

“This report is inaccurate. We’ve not contacted Renard or his representatives,” the official told BBC Africa.

Renard is anticipated to step down as head coach of the French women’s national team after the 2024 Olympic Games.

The 55-year-old is keen to return to Africa, where he has enjoyed significant success.

Renard guided Zambia to victory in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and replicated this achievement with Côte d’Ivoire in 2015.

The NFF is searching for a new coach for the Super Eagles following Finidi George’s resignation.

A new coach is expected to be appointed before the Super Eagles start the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in September.
