Tinubu Creates Ministry Of Livestock Development

President Bola Tinubu announced on Tuesday the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Livestock Reform Implementation Committee at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

However, President Tinubu did not specify the Minister for the new ministry, as it is expected that he will forward the name to the Senate for screening and confirmation if it’s a new nominee.

In attendance at the inauguration were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and other cabinet members.

It is noteworthy that on September 15, 2023, President Tinubu approved the establishment of the Presidential Committee dedicated to reforming the livestock industry and providing long-term solutions to the recurring clashes between herders and farmers in the country. This committee was established following the submission of a report from the National Conference on Livestock Reforms and Mitigation of Associated Conflicts in Nigeria.
