The Federal Government plans to review and unbundle the merger of federal technical colleges and science schools.
The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, revealed this at a stakeholders’ meeting addressing the challenges faced by technical colleges.
Mamman criticized the merger, stating it undermined the purpose of technical colleges. He explained that these colleges should cater to students interested in technical education.
He emphasised that science programs belong in regular colleges and that merging the two was a mistake.
Mamman also lamented the low student enrolment in technical colleges, highlighting their role in teaching skills to transform the country.
