Chelsea are reportedly closing in on a major deal to sign Victor Osimhen, with two players possibly heading to Napoli as part of the exchange.
After missing out on Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion, the Blues have intensified their search for a striker, turning their attention to Osimhen, 25, who is keen to leave Napoli. The Italian club is now eyeing Romelu Lukaku as his replacement.
Chelsea are considering including Lukaku in the deal to reduce Osimhen’s £100 million price tag. Additionally, midfielder Cesare Casadei is reportedly part of the negotiations.
According to The Sun, Chelsea could end up paying just £39 million for Osimhen if Lukaku and Casadei are involved in the trade.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte, who previously coached Lukaku at Inter Milan, is eager to reunite with the forward.
Lukaku, currently training with Chelsea’s reserves, has an uncertain future as the club seeks to offload his £325,000-a-week salary. They had hoped for a £37 million bid to lower Osimhen’s fee.
Casadei, who joined Chelsea under Todd Boehly and showed promise at Inter Milan’s academy, was expected to make an impact at the club but has struggled during loan spells. His inclusion in the Osimhen deal suggests Chelsea’s confidence in his potential may have waned.
Former manager Mauricio Pochettino had praised Casadei’s potential, but his potential move to Napoli signals a shift in the club’s strategy.
