Akugbene-Mein kingdom Praise Oborevwori, Urge Tinubu to Rethink Economic Policies

At a crucial meeting held on August 20, 2024, at the Royal Palace in Akugbene Town, the Akugbene-Mein Traditional Chiefs Council, under the leadership of HRM Pere Stanley Perediegha Luke-Kalanama VIII, deliberated on pressing issues affecting the kingdom and the nation.

In a statement signed by the palace secretary, Chief Deinyou Anthony Brinemughan, the council, acknowledging the challenging economic conditions in the country, expressed their confidence in the Rt. Hon. Elder SFO Oborevwori’s administration, commending his commitment to infrastructure development across Delta State.

The chiefs particularly appreciated the prompt approval for the resurfacing of the Ohoro Junction to Bomadi road, a move seen as a significant relief for the local populace.

In a call to the federal government, the council urged President Tinubu to reconsider economic policies such as the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira, citing their adverse effects on citizens. They also called for an overhaul of the nation’s security architecture to better protect lives and property.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF AKUGBENE-MEIN TRADITIONAL CHIEFS COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON THE 20TH DAY OF AUGUST, 2024 AT THE ROYAL PALACE, AKUGBENE TOWN.

The meeting was attended by the entire chiefs council presided over by the Pere-in-Council, HRM Pere Stanley Perediegha Luke-Kalanama viii (JP), Pere of Akugbene-Mein kingdom deliberated on several issues which includes but not limited to the following; welfare of the chiefs, worsening economic hardship in the country, the state of insecurity in the land viz-a-viz the positive impact of the Rt. Hon. Elder SFO Oborevwori’s led administration in the state.

Consistent with the above, the Traditional Chiefs council revolved as follows.

  1. Council passed a vote of confidence to the H.E. Oborevwori led administration by impacting positively on the lives of all Deltans by providing massive infrastructural development across the state.
  2. Council appreciates H.E Oborevwori for the prompt approval of the resurfacing of the road from Ohoro junction to Bomadi and down to Gbaregolor to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
  3. Council also congratulate Hon. Dagidi Rowland Andaye, chairman Bomadi LGA and his Vice Chairman Hon. Powei Guembe on their electoral victory and subsequent swearing in ceremony.
    Council further prayed God Almighty to guide, guard and grant them wisdom to move the Local government area to greater heights.
  4. Council calls on the federal government of Nigeria led by President Tinubu to reconsider some of his economic policies particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira as these policies have continued to take a downturn on the citizenry.
  5. The council calls on the security chiefs to rejig the security architecture of the entire nation so as to safe guard lives and properties across the country.
  6. Council calls on all sons and daughters of the kingdom to continue to lend their unflinching support for both State and federal government for the rapid development of the country.
