2024 Paralympic: Nigeria’s Ugwunwa Wins Silver In Javelin

Nigeria’s Flora Ugwunwa secured a silver medal in the women’s Javelin F54 at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, finishing second with a 19.26m throw. Uzbekistan’s Nurkhon Kurbanova claimed gold with a world record throw of 21.12m.

Ugwunwa’s achievement marks Nigeria’s first medal in the women’s Javelin category and adds to their total of four medals so far. At 40 years old, Ugwunwa continues to excel, having now won three consecutive Paralympic medals: two golds (Rio, Tokyo) and this silver in Paris.

Iran’s Elham Salehi took the bronze with a 16.24m throw.

Other Nigerian athletes who have earned medals include Onyinyechi Mark, Eniola Bolaji, and Esther Nworgu.
