Sheriff Mulade Warns Against Sale Of Benikrukru Land

Gbaramatu Kingdom-born global peace ambassador and development advocate, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, has urged the peace-loving people of Benikrukru Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, to refrain from setting a harmful precedent for both the community and the kingdom at large.

Chief Mulade, who holds the title of Ibe-Serimowei of Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, offered this advice over the weekend, warning the community leadership, led by Comrade Joel Tonjoh, not to jeopardisse the future of unborn generations.

He raised these concerns in light of an ongoing attempt by Tonjoh’s leadership to secretly sell over 400 acres of land in what he described as a suspicious, unpatriotic, and dubious manner, with no historical or cultural justification.

The Benikrukru-born environmental activist called on His Royal Majesty, Oboro Gbaraun II, Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, and the Elders of Benikrukru to intervene, urging them to stop Tonjoh and his team from selling any part of Benikrukru land. He also emphasized the need for the community to support local individuals capable of attracting investors and fostering development in the area.

“I strongly advise that we should support any of our indigenes who have the capacity to attract and woo investors to Gbaramatu Kingdom, especially Benikrukru Community,” he said.

“I want to emphasize that, the community ought to, and should demonstrate gratitude to one of our own (Name withheld), who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the community and bringing the community to limelight, and should be given land to invest freely, as an equity stake contributions, in support of his investment drive, and not the other way round by selling. This would be a very laudable encouragement to this illustrious son of ours and many others, “he opined.

“I strongly think that no amount of poverty, ignorance, and ‘stomach infrastructures’ should allow us to condescend so low in-spite of his huge contributions to the community development and we should avoid doing things that are inimical to natural justice and fair play.

It is imperative to state clearly that Benikrukru Community land in Gbaramatu Kingdom belongs to all sons and daughters with inalienable rights. Therefore, no individual should be subjected or denial of such rights, and such that is capable of generating crisis and litigation in the nearest future.

The Benikrukru-born Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom made a strong appeal to the community, urging them to support and contribute to investment efforts as part of the community’s equity contributions, rather than selling any portion of their land.
