Speech by His Royal Majesty, Mobene III, Pere, Ama-okosu of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom on the Occasion of the 9th Coronation Anniversary
Distinguished Chiefs, Elders, Sons and Daughters of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, Friends, and Well-wishers,
Today marks a significant milestone in the history of our great kingdom, as we come together to celebrate the 9th anniversary of my ascension to the revered throne of our ancestors. I stand before you deeply humbled and filled with immense gratitude for the love, support, and loyalty you have all shown throughout these nine years of our shared journey.
When I assumed this mantle of leadership, I fully understood the gravity of the responsibility placed upon my shoulders. I was not merely assuming a title, but inheriting the sacred duty to preserve the unity, culture, and prosperity of the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom. Reflecting on these years, I take great pride in the strides we have made in securing peace, fostering development, and promoting the values that define us as a people.
One of the most vital achievements we celebrate today is the peace that now reigns between us and the Aladja community in Udu Local Government Area. The journey has not always been smooth, and we have faced our fair share of crises. However, through dialogue, patience, and wisdom, we have been able to maintain harmony both within our kingdom and with our neighbors, especially the Aladja people.
At this juncture, I call on His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, to use his good office to ensure that the long-standing boundary dispute is resolved. I recall the promise made by the Governor on Tuesday, the 1st of August 2023, at Government House, Asaba, to resolve the boundary dispute within three months. While we appreciate the peace we have enjoyed recently, it has now been nearly a year since that promise. Therefore, I appeal to the Governor to deliver permanent peace between our two communities.
As a people deeply rooted in tradition and strong principles, we understand that peace is the foundation of progress. It is through peace that we will be able to pursue our collective growth and development.
It is pertinent to note that, due to the crises we have experienced, our kingdom has lagged behind in terms of development. My vision is for a kingdom where our people can make significant strides in education and infrastructure. I long for a future where our children have greater access to quality education, and where every parent and guardian prioritizes education, as it is the key to securing a brighter future for Ogbe-Ijoh. I envision improved roads, healthcare facilities, and markets to enhance the well-being and prosperity of our people.
All of this is possible if the government is deliberate in finding a lasting solution to the crises. I know that the Sheriff-led government has the people at heart, as evidenced by its M.O.R.E. Agenda. I want to specially thanked the Governor for the first time in the history of Delta State, a governor brought Julius Berger to construct flyerovers and roads that will stand the test of time and I commend his foresight for prioritizing durability in road construction. we are hopeful that our communities will also benefit from this development.
To my people, our culture remains one of our greatest treasures. The traditions, language, and customs of the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom are the soul of our existence. As your king, I have worked diligently to preserve and promote our heritage, ensuring that the younger generation understands and values the legacy passed down to us. Through our culture, we maintain our identity, and we must continue to cherish it.
I want to especially thank the chiefs, elders, and council members of the kingdom for their steadfastness and wisdom in guiding me through this journey. Your counsel has been invaluable, and I remain ever grateful for your dedication to the service of our people.
As we look to the future, much work remains to be done. Our kingdom must continue to grow in strength, unity, and prosperity. We must remain vigilant in our pursuit of progress, while ensuring that the core values of respect, justice, and compassion remain at the heart of all our efforts. Together, we will continue to provide opportunities for our youth, promote sustainable development, and ensure that the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom remains a beacon of peace and progress in Delta State and beyond.
Today is not just a celebration of my reign, but a celebration of all of us—the proud sons and daughters of our kingdom. It is a reminder of our resilience, strength, and collective responsibility to ensure that our kingdom thrives for generations to come.
Let us, therefore, renew our commitment to unity, progress, and the well-being of every member of our kingdom. Let us hold fast to our culture, promote peace, and work together to build an Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom that future generations will be proud to inherit.
May the Almighty and our ancestors continue to guide and bless us in all our endeavors.
Thank you, and may Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom continue to flourish in peace and prosperity.
Long live Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom!
Long live Delta State!
Long live Nigeria!
God bless you all.
