Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has infiltrated the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) under acting National Chairman Umar Damagun.
In a reaction to the recently concluded Edo State governorship election, Melaye posted on X, stating that the election results show Damagun is poised to ruin the party.
According to Melaye: “With the destroyer called Damagun on the wheels, PDP is in the departure lounge waiting for the boarding pass.
“Edo experience will be a joke, there are more APC in the NWC than PDP.”
PDP’s governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, lost Saturday’s election, according to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Ighodalo received 247,274 votes, while the APC’s Monday Okpebholo was declared the winner with 291,667 votes by Returning Officer Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta.
Dino Melaye previously accused Umar Damagum of leading the party to destruction, claiming that PDP founding figures like Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Sunday Awoniyi, Adamu Chiroma, Tony Anenih, and Abubakar Rimi would be dismayed by Damagum’s leadership style.
