Naira Appreciates After CBN Sells $20,000 To BDCs At N1590

The naira surged significantly against the dollar in the foreign exchange market 24 hours after the Central Bank of Nigeria sold foreign exchange to Bureau De Change (BDC) operators.

According to FMDQ data, the naira appreciated by N91.32, rising to N1576.10 per dollar on Thursday, up from N1667.42 on Wednesday.

Likewise, in the black market, the naira strengthened to N1695 per dollar on Thursday from N1705. This follows a N104.76 depreciation of the naira against the dollar in the official market on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Waffi TV reports that the apex bank announced on Wednesday the sale of $20,000 to each eligible BDC at N1590 per dollar.
