The Nigerian journalism community, particularly the Ijaw Publishers’ Forum, is mourning the death of Mrs. Goodluck Opukeme, mother of prominent journalist and Daily Watch publisher, Mr. Cletus Opukeme.
Mrs. Opukeme passed away on Friday, September 20, following a brief illness at a private hospital in Sagbama, Bayelsa State.
Born on February 15, 1951, in Tuomo town, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, she was a strong pillar for her family and community.
In a heartfelt statement, Mr. Cletus Opukeme announced his mother’s passing, expressing deep sorrow and gratitude for the support received.
“The Opukeme family is deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved matriarch, Mrs. Goodluck Opukeme. Her passing leaves a void in our lives, but we take comfort in the memories of her love, wisdom, and unwavering support,” Mr. Opukeme said.
“The family will convene to determine the formal burial date, which will be announced shortly.
“Mrs. Goodluck Opukeme’s legacy will be cherished by her family, friends, and the community she touched through her life”.
Meanwhile, heartfelt condolences continue to pour in for Mr. Cletus Opukeme and his family during this challenging time.
