64th Independence Anniversary: Guwor Urges Deltans To Celebrate State’s Role In Nigeria’s Growth

As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Anniversary, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has urged Deltans to take pride in the state’s pivotal role in the nation’s development.

In a goodwill message to the people of Warri South West, Delta State, and Nigeria, Rt Hon Guwor highlighted Delta’s six-decade-long contribution to the country’s progress, noting the state’s reputation as “The Big Heart” and its significant influence on national growth.

The Speaker, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, called on citizens to remain hopeful for a united and prosperous Nigeria, despite current challenges. He stressed that the 64th Independence Anniversary marks a reminder of the people’s resilience, unity, and determination.

“As we reflect on our journey, let’s honour the sacrifices of our founding fathers and the struggles of our past. We have come a long way, but our collective efforts will shape a brighter future”, he said.

He encouraged Nigerians to continue striving for greatness, embracing the nation’s diversity, and committing to peace, justice, and equality. Guwor also expressed optimism that Delta State will remain a leader among Nigerian states, especially in its oil and gas contributions, which account for 30% of the nation’s total output.

On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly and the Warri South West Constituency, the Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity, good governance, and prosperity for the state. He also thanked Deltans for their continued support of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

“As we celebrate our nation’s independence, let’s also reflect on our collective aspirations and work towards creating a better future for ourselves, our children, our communities and our dear state, Delta”, Guwor stated.
