In the early hours of Saturday, an explosion suspected to be from dynamite rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, causing significant damage to the building and other properties. The blast tore down the gate and destroyed windows, doors, and other parts of the premises.
This marks the second time this year that the Chief Tony Okocha-led APC secretariat has been targeted in such an attack. The incident coincides with the local government elections scheduled for today, following confirmation by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission on Friday that all sensitive materials had been distributed across the state.
A viral video of the aftermath, seen by our correspondent, showed workers assessing the damage at the secretariat. When reached for comment, state police command spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko stated she had not yet received a report but promised to follow up. The APC has not released an official statement on the incident yet.
